To eat or not to eat?

Have you ever gone to the gym right after eating and then feel like the food just wants to come right back out? SAME. It happens, sometimes my schedule is crazy so I don't really know when I can go to they gym. I end up squeezing my gym time right after lunch and I HATE it. I like to workout on any empty stomach early in the morning (which has its benefits) or if I can't then I like having something light to eat. Before I tell you what I would eat before my workout if I don't have enough time in the morning, let's talk about the be benefits of working out on an empty stomach. It might sound weird at first, but trust me on this one! For example, if I want to do some cardio WITHOUT having food in my system 3-6 hours this is called fasted cardio. Fasted cardio is said to improve fat-burning and encourages your body to rely on stored energy rather than energy from recently digested food. This doesn't only go for fasted cardio, it goes for any workout as well, your blood glucose and glycogen (carbohydrate in the muscles) often get depleted after sleep. MEANING.. your body burns more fat when there is no food in your stomach! The fat released from cells are burned as fuel, and there is an increase in the hormones that encourage the use of energy stored as fat. Did I prove my point yet?

While all of this sounds SO convincing, sometimes I HAVE to eat something, we are all human. So this is a light snack/meal I enjoy having before a workout if I absolutely need food in my system.

Avocado toast! It's delicious, light on the stomach, and gives your that full feeling after eating. I have talked about the benefits of avocados before, SO SO good for you. Check out my other posts to read about avocados! I toasted some wheat bread and cut up half of an avocado and seasoned it lightly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. DELICIOUS! Give it a try and let me know if you enjoyed it!
